Preview: Arbroath v Berwick Rangers – SPFL Ladbrokes League Two
The ‘Gers penultimate away trip of the season sees them travel to Angus to take on Dick Campbell’s Arbroath.
Berwick inflicted a 3-0 defeat on Arbroath in Campbell’s first game in charge of the club back in March. Since, his men have comfortably escaped the League Two relegation play-off.
The ‘Gers meanwhile have shown incredible consistency since that match, and have now conceded just one goal in eight games .
Berwick Rangers Team News:
Sandy Cunningham is likely to be the only notable absentee for the ‘Gers’ trip to Gayfield as he continues his recovery from the dislocated shoulder he sustained in the 0-0 draw at East Stirlingshire two weeks ago.
Coughlin will have to make a decision about who will play at right-back after Graeme Beveridge slotted into the team effectively in last week’s 3-0 win over Clyde, with Ewan McNeil on the bench, while Barry Hogg may celebrate his extended contract with the ‘Gers with another place in the matchday squad.
Arbroath Team News:
Despite avoiding a relegation play-off, boss Dick Campbell has criticised his team’s mentality following a heavy defeat in Annan last weekend.
The Smokies boss is likely to ring the changes following the loss, as he told the Arbroath Herald: “I’m very angry and concerned about the way we accept defeat. There’s no team that I manage that will ever have a mentality like that.
“I don’t like the way we accept it when we lose goals. We’ve probably played as well as we have since I’ve came in (at Annan). Then we lost two of the silliest goals you’ll ever see.
“It cannot go on and that’s why you’re languishing near the bottom of the division, because the mentality is not acceptable.
“I’m not willing to accept it but I knew that coming in, I’m not surprised at it. It’s very important to recognise this journey that we’re going to go on, and they either come with me or they go away.”
Match Odds:
Once again SPFL sponsors Ladbrokes believe the ‘Gers are underdogs for the League Two clash, perhaps owing to Berwick’s poor record of late at Gayfield.
