Preview: Annan Athletic v Berwick Rangers – SPFL Ladbrokes League Two
The ‘Gers begin a new era of leadership today under new manager John Coughlin, and will be looking for instant change to begin to turn around what is a dismal record in Annan of late.
Berwick Rangers Team News:
The ‘Gers new manager Coughlin will be delighted to have a full selection available to him, minus two long-term absentees.
Euan Bauld is still struggling with a back problem, whilst Calum Helm is continuing his rehabiliatation from a knee injury sustained in pre-season.
After promising last weekend that those who impressed in training would play today, it will be interesting to see how the gaffer lines up for his first game since leaving in 2007.
It’s clear the new boss has already made an impression, with captain Jonny Fairbairn revealing: “We all enjoyed the intensity he demanded in training this week and we’re looking forward to starting to put both performances and results on the park.
“We as players have to take more responsibility, because we haven’t been good enough recently. There is going to be a period of getting to know each other but I’m already optimistic we can make this season a success, and we can only look forward to today’s game.”
Annan Athletic Team News:
Annan have topped the League Two table since the start of October and despite slip-up last time out in Elgin, will be looking to capitalise on their strong record against the Dream Team to extend their lead at the summit.
Bryan Gilfillan is a doubt with an injury, but will most likely make it in a late fitness test. Elsewhere, Peter Weatherson will return from injury after seeing red against East Fife.
