Liam Buchanan

Liam arrived at Shielfield Park in June 2022 having departed a Cowdenbeath side he’d netted 11 goals for the season prior. A proven goalscorer, Liam has a mammoth 190 SPFL goals to his name, and 233 across all competitions.

The 37 year-old has a wealth of senior league experience having also played with Partick Thistle, Dunfermline, Ayr United, East Fife, Alloa Athletic, Livingston and Raith Rovers during his career. Liam also had a short spell with Sligo Rovers over in Ireland, and his time at Shielfield Park will be his first experience of the Lowland League.

His time with the ‘Gers represents his first experience of the Lowland League. Interestingly, Liam has been a long-term target of the ‘Gers, with many previous managers having attempted to win his services over the years.

Player Sponsor

Liam’s’ kit is sponsored by father and son duo, David and Adam Proudfoot, who continued their tradition of sponsoring a ‘Gers player by switching to Lewy after the departure of Calum Smith.

Adam often enjoys a train trip down from Edinburgh to watch the Wee ‘Gers, and follows in his dad’s footsteps when visiting Shielfield Park. David and Adam both hold out hopes that the youngster might one day pull on the Black & Gold jersey for the first-team – going one step further than his dad who represented the ‘Gers youth team over twenty years ago.

The pair also sponsor midfielder, Lewis Barr.
