Grant Nelson

Date of Birth: January 15, 1999
Previous Clubs: Rangers (youth), Edusport Academy (loan), Dundee, Tranent Juniors

Grant joined the Dream Team in mid-September 2020 after a successful trial with the club, during which he impressed then manager Ian Little and his coaching team. The combative attacking midfielder came up through the ranks of Rangers as a youth, before a serious ankle injury saw his spell at Ibrox come to an end.

After a trial at Inverness Caledonian Thistle didn’t result in a contract, the youngster joined Dundee on a short-term basis before he departed The Dark Blues to take up an opportunity in the US, only for Covid-19 too put paid to that plan. Prior to his scheduled departure, Grant also featured for Tranent Juniors as he looked to keep himself fit.

After a successful first season at Shielfield Park, during which he played 16 times in all competitions, scoring twice, Nelson signed a two-year contract extension, keeping him at the club until summer 2023. During a defensive crisis, Grant was fielded at full back and widely impressed supporters – and his manager, with his efforts in the ‘Gers backline.
