Number of ‘Gers youngsters head out on loan
Berwick Rangers can confirm that a host of players have agreed loan deals as part of the club’s attempts to help better physically develop and prepare our youngsters for first-team football.
Brothers Kyle and Stephen Scott have joined Penicuik Athletic, the hometown club of the pair. The twins were part of the Penicuik High School Senior side which won the Scottish Shield and Lothian Cup in 2015, before winning the David Murray Cup and the South East Region Cup last season with Loanhead Miners.. Both made their debut in a 3-2 win away to Jeanfield Swifts in Perth at the weekend (highlights available here).
Elsewhere, Ryan Porteous has joined Jock Landell’s Arniston Rangers, where he’ll join up with the likes of former Berwick defender Guy Kerr. Porteous had been scheduled to debut for his other Rangers side over the weekend, however Falkirk Juniors’ struggle to raise a team caused the cancellation of the match late on.
Kieran Ingram, who has recently earned the praise of Head of Youth Coaching Derek McKenzie and first-team Manager John Coughlin has joined Haddington Athletic, and debuted in a 1-1 draw with Forfar West End on Saturday. Highlights of the match can be found here.
Another to depart on loan is Ewan Herriot, who joins Blackburn United. Ewan came off the bench for the final 30 minutes against Crossgates in a 3-1 victory.
All players have been loaned out until January 2017. The club are hopeful that more of the squad will seal deals to senior sides over the coming week.
Berwick Rangers would like to thank all clubs involved for their cooperation in getting the paperwork done over the previous work, and would like to wish our youngsters look during their time out on loan.
Fans can look forward to the thoughts of Derek McKenzie on how the club utilise the loan system in an item which will be published on the club’s official website tomorrow.
