November Preview

Berwick look to shoot up the Lowland League table as they head into a difficult November slate of games.

Kevin Haynes will lead his side into five league games with a rare double header in one month and three games at MKM Shielfield.

All games are 3pm kick offs unless otherwise stated

November 1 – Linlithgow Rose (H)

November opens up with a difficult game as title chasing Linlithgow Rose travel to MKM Shielfield Park.

Gordon Herd’s Rose side have started the Lowland League season like a house on fire, leading the league in goals scored and topping the table for almost 2 months. However, consecutive league defeats to University of Stirling and Hearts B have seen Rose drop to 3rd in the table and they will be looking to get back to winning ways.

Rose’s last visit to Shielfield Park was back on the opening day of the 2024/25 season where Liam Buchanan’s early goal was the difference between the sides. The last time these sides met was in Kevin Haynes’ first game in charge of Berwick back in January, where Rose strolled to a 3-0 victory.

Tickets will be priced at £10 for adults, £5 for concessions with U16s going free. There will be a 28 page double issue match programme priced at £3 available for fans to purchase inside the ground.

November 4 – Caledonian Braves (H, 7:45pm)

There is no rest for Berwick as they return to Shielfield to host Caledonian Braves in league action.

Braves have already been a thorn in the side of Berwick this season, knocking the ‘Gers out of the South Challenge Cup at the first hurdle back in August. Ricky Waddell’s side have struggled for the levels of consistency they hit last season but are still packed with talent and recently took League Two Stirling Albion to extra time in the Scottish Cup.

Braves have a strong recent record in Berwick in recent seasons, winning on their last three visits without conceding a goal. The last time Braves conceded a goal at Shielfield Park was July 2021 when Scott-Taylor Mackenzie scored the only goal in a Berwick victory to open the 2021/22 season.

Kick off at MKM Shielfield is 7:45pm with tickets priced at £10 for adults, £5 for concessions with under 16s going free..

November 8 – University of Stirling (A)

Berwick’s first away day of November sees them travel to Forthbank to face University of Stirling.

Chris Geddes’ students have been the Lowland League’s entertainers with their 14 league games averaging almost 5 goals a game including 5-3 and 5-4 wins in October over East Stirlingshire and Linlithgow Rose respectively. Despite the entertainment, Uni have only kept one clean sheet in all competitions this season with only three teams in the Lowland League conceding fewer than their 35.

Uni completed a league double over Berwick for the first time last season, winning 7-0 at Shielfield in August before winning a wild February game 3-2 at Forthbank. Games between the sides at Forthbank have been fairly even with three wins for the students and two for Berwick.

Tickets will be priced at £8 for adults, £4 for concessions with U16s going free.

November 22 – Gretna (H)

November’s final home game sees bottom of the table Gretna visit Shielfield Park.

Vinnie Parker’s side were one of the surprise packages of last season’s Lowland League, finishing 15th after almost being relegated the season before. Despite an opening day win at Bonnyrigg Rose, Parker’s side have not won since at the time of writing and have slumped to the foot of the table with just 5 points to their name, with the fewest goals scored and the most conceded.

Berwick struggled against Gretna last season, losing 3-0 at Raydale Park last October before February’s 2-2 draw in Berwick. Gretna’s record at Shielfield is appalling, with that draw their second ever point in Berwick, losing every other visit.

Tickets will be priced at £10 for adults, £5 for concessions with U16s going free. There will be a 28 match programme priced at £3 available for fans to purchase inside the ground.

November 29 – Caledonian Braves (A)

The final game of November sees a rare in-month double header as Berwick travel to Alliance Park for the rearranged game against Caledonian Braves.

This game was originally planned for the end of September but an issue at Alliance Park meant the facilities were unusable, causing the rearrangement.

Berwick’s record at Alliance Park is particularly poor with just one league win there back in October 2020 thanks to Jordan Sinclair’s free kick. Berwick’s only other win since was a penalty shootout win in 2024 in the Lowland League Cup.

Tickets will be priced at £8 for adults, £4 for concessions with U16s going free.
