McCrorie extends stay

The club are delighted to confirm that goalkeeper Robby McCrorie has extended his loan deal until the end of the season.

19 year-old McCrorie has been a stand out performer for the ‘Gers this season and is the only player to play every minute of competitive action throughout the first half of 2017/18. In 26 appearances the stopper has kept eight clean sheets and impressed fans, winning five social media Man of the Match awards.

Robby’s performances this season have also been recognised by a wider audience, earning places in the SPFL team of the week, a Scotland U21s call up and most recently a new four and a half year deal with parent club Rangers.

Speaking to the official website, McCrorie was looking ahead to the second half of the SPFL campaign: “I’m really looking forward to continuing my loan spell with the club and the challenges ahead! Everyone has made me feel welcome from day one and I’m hoping that I can end the season successfully for myself and Berwick.”

Berwick manager Robbie Horn was happy to see the deal extended: “I’m delighted that we have managed to extend Robby’s loan deal. He’s an outstanding young goalkeeper with a big future ahead of him. He sets himself high standards, has a fantastic attitude to training and games and is just a great young man that we think very highly of at Berwick.”

Horn also feels having Sean Brennan in the squad has helped McCrorie push even harder: “He knows he needs to keep working hard and that Sean Brennan is breathing down his neck. We are very fortunate to have two quality young goalkeepers at the club”.

The club would like to thank Rangers, in particular Craig Mullholland, Creag Robertson and Billy Kirkwood, for their assistance in completing the deal.
