Match Preview: Stirling Albion v Berwick Rangers – SPFL Ladbrokes League Two

The ‘Gers head to Stirlingshire tomorrow to take on Dave Mackay’s Albion side who have enjoyed mixed form since the arrival of their new manager in late November.

As of this morning, there were no weather issues in the area however cold weather is forecast so fans are advised to check for any news prior to travelling as a precaution.

Steven Thomson was named SPFL Star Man of the week after netting an incredible hat-trick.

Berwick Rangers Team News:

The ‘Gers will be without defender Brian Martin and forwards Samuel Perez & Jordyn Sheerin, with the trio all leaving the club since transfer deadline day.

Sheerin’s departure will mean that there will be at least two changes from a starting XI which impressively put away Annan Athletic last Saturday afternoon at Shielfield Park.

Aaron Murrell’s impressive contribution from the bench on Saturday could see him fill the boots of Sheerin, though with Steven Thomson netting 3 from midfield last weekend, boss John Coughlin may also be tempted into a formation change after midfielders contributed all four of the ‘Gers’ goals last time out.

Steven Notman has recovered from a virus which kept him out of contention last weekend and he could be the additional midfielder, but Robert Wilson and Jonny Fairbairn won’t return to the starting line-ups with the pair still injured.

Michael Dunlop also remains sidelined and will be joined by Kevin McKinlay, who will miss out on the chance to get one over his former club after sustaining a first-half injury during last week’s dominant win.

Stirling Albion Team News:

The Binos are without their top scorer Dylan Bikey after the 21 year-old French forward completed a January move to Heart of Midlothian after impressing in his short stay at the club.

However, former ‘Gers man Blair Henderson has looked to take on some of the goalscoring responsibility following Bikey’s departure, the striker scoring 4 in his last 3 league games as he comes into form.

One man who won’t feature is Willie Robertson after the midfielder suffered a knee injury last weekend, whilst Albion’s midfield options will be further weakened by the loss of Calvin Colquhoun to suspension.

Forward Ross Kavanagh and winger Callumn Morrison will both miss out as they continue to recover from longer-term injuries, but the Binos could be boosted by the return of full back and youth graduate Ross McGeachie.
