Match Preview : Stenhousemuir FC V Berwick Rangers – Ladbrokes League Two

Robbie Horn and his side travel to Ochilview Park on Saturday to tackle play-off chasing Stenhousemuir FC. The kick off is 3pm.

The Black & Gold will be hoping for a better result than the previous meeting at Ochilview in September when the home side emerged 3-0 victors.

The sides are yet to meet at Shielfield in the 2017/18 season due to re-arranged matches.

Berwick will be hoping for improved fortunes from the midweek loss to Peterhead where the side battled bravely back from 0-2 down and were on the end of some debatable decisions.

Berwick News

Berwick supporters have been seriously boosted during the winter transfer window with several new additions to the squad.

New signings Declan O’Kane and Alex Petkov have settled into the midfield well whilst new strikers Jack Hamilton and Ouzy See have hit the ground running by netting strikes in the last two games.

This feel good re-shaping of the squad continued in earnest this week with Robbie Horn adding Jamie Todd from Tranent Juniors. The 6’2 central defender is highly rated and goes straight into the squad for this one.

The fans were further thrilled on deadline day with the news that 26 year old midfielder/forward, Paul Willis, was returning to the club from East Fife.

Willis had enjoyed a fruitful spell at Shielfield in the 2014/15 season, making 34 appearances and notching 9 goals. He will also be in the squad on Saturday as he looks to make his second debut for the club. Manager Robbie Horn commenting that Willis was keen to return to Berwick with his ability to play in various attacking positions adding depth to the squad.

Stevie Notman, Kevin McKinlay and Robert Wilson all miss the game through injury.

Chris McDonald and Michael McKenna have both bid farewell to the ‘Gers in recent days, completing moves to Morpeth Town and Arbroath respectively. We wish them both well.

Stenhousemuir FC news

The home side have also had positive news during the month of January as they look to continue a promotion push until the end of the season. Innes Murray has extended his loan for the remainder of the season whilst the impressive Harry Paton has returned to the club on loan from Hearts until the end of the season also.

Paton had been back with the Hearts first team for a winter trip but a deal has been agreed for him to continue with Brown Ferguson’s side this season.

Ferguson’s side come into the match with three wins from their last five league games. They sit 3rd in the league but have lost two of the last three, with a victory at Clyde sandwiched between defeats at Elgin City and at home to Peterhead FC.

Mark McGuigan is the Warriors leading scorer this season with 17 league goals.
