Match Preview: Montrose v Berwick Rangers – SPFL Ladbrokes League Two

John Coughlin and his team will travel up the east coast tomorrow as they take on a Montrose side who sit 3 places and 3 points above the ‘Gers. A win for Berwick could therefore see Berwick leapfrog the Mo in what is a very tight league, though Berwick would need a win by at least 2 goals to do so.

Sean Brennan will deputise once more with Kevin Walker out injured.

Berwick Rangers Team News:

Berwick’s task isn’t going to be made any easier by injury problems, with Coughlin still without first-choice ‘keeper Kevin Walker. The stopper suffered an injury whilst warming up for the ‘Gers last league match against Arbroath. Sean Brennan, who stepped in that day, is set to feature once more.

The away side will also have selection trouble at the back with the news that Jonny Fairbairn has been ruled out with an ankle problem and January transfer window signing Michael Dunlop is also out with a back strain.

Coughlin does however have some new faces available to him, with the news that both forward Aaron Murrell and defender Euan Spark have joined the club today.

In addition to that, Pat Scullion has agreed permanent terms with the club, meaning this won’t be his final game in Black & Gold.

Montrose Team News:

Montrose recently added to their ranks with the signing of Liam Callaghan, the young midfield joining from Angus rivals Arbroath. Callaghan, who operates both centrally and from the left graduated from the Cowdenbeath youth ranks and made his debut when beating his former side 2-1 two weeks ago.

One man who won’t feature is Ross Lennie after the expiration of his contract. Lennie has since joined Fife junior outfit Dundonald Bluebell.

Lloyd Hester and Kyle McLeod have also continued their loan deals with Montrose Roselea, meaning they’ll continue to play junior football until the season’s end.

The Angus men are also without Gary Fraser and Matthew Smith, who both serve bans.

Match Odds:

SPFL title-sponsors fancy the home side to edge this one, pricing them as slight favourites to take all 3 points.

Montrose – 7/5

Draw – 12/5

Berwick Rangers – 9/5

Match Officials:

Mike Roncone will be in charge of this one, and he will be assisted by both Dougie Potter and Alan Proctor.

Enjoy the match and a safe journey to all travelling.
