Match Preview: Edinburgh City v Berwick Rangers – SPFL Ladbrokes League Two
Berwick return to the capital tonight to have a second attempt at playing a fixture originally scheduled for 11 previous.
Season ticket holders who make our shortest league trip will enjoy entry for just £6 on production of their season cards, in a deal which reciprocates that offered to City fans earlier this season.
Travelling fans are invited to The Scottie pub (100 Northfield Broadway – EH8 7RU), a 3 minute drive or 10 minute walk from Meadowbank Stadium prior to the game, where they can enjoy a pre-match beverage. The pub has hosted a number of away supports in City’s debut SPFL season and have contacted the club to ensure fans are aware they’ll be made welcome.
Berwick Rangers Team News:
Berwick welcome back Kevin McKinlay to the fold after the defender missed out of Saturday’s disappointing defeat to Cowdenbeath due to a suspension earned as a result of accumulating too many yellow cards.
Boss John Coughlin is likely to freshen things up after admitting that his team looked tired in the weekend’s loss, but he will be sticking with young stopper Sean Brennan, who was one of few to impress in defeat, in goal with Kevin Walker still sidelined through injury.
Michael McKenna will finally complete his four-game suspension, but Michael Dunlop and Robert Wilson remain injured for the foreseeable.
After a number of defensive lapses at the weekend, Coughlin may look to recall Jonny Fairbairn, who made his return to the park after a lengthy lay-off from the bench towards the end of Saturday’s game.
Aaron Murrell may also start given the positive impact he made from the bench, setting up Greg Rutherford for the ‘Gers’ consolation.
Edinburgh City Team News:
City boss Gary Jardine recently bolstered his striking ranks ahead of their previous match against Cowdenbeath by adding Derek Riordan to his squad, and the move appears to be paying dividends with the forward netting in City’s surprise 2-1 victory over the league-leading Forfar Athletic at Station Park.
The Edinburgh side have found goals hard to come by in the SPFL, meaning they’ve not been able to capitalise on a fairly solid defensive record as much as they’d have liked, but have enjoyed two wins in their last two games – a feat Berwick haven’t been able to achieve yet this season.
Match Odds:
SPFL title-sponsors Ladbrokes believe the home side will take the points here.

Draw – 21/10
Berwick Rangers – 9/4
