Match Preview: Edinburgh City v Berwick Rangers – SPFL Ladbrokes League Two

Berwick travel to the capital tomorrow in search of 3 points to help them bounce back from a spirited 1-0 loss to Elgin City at Shielfield Park last week.

Season ticket holders who make our shortest league trip will enjoy entry for just £6 on production of their season cards, in a deal which reciprocates that offered to City fans earlier this season.

Travelling fans are invited to The Scottie pub (100 Northfield Broadway – EH8 7RU), a 3 minute drive or 10 minute walk from Meadowbank Stadium prior to the game, where they can enjoy a pre-match beverage. The pub has hosted a number of away supports in City’s debut SPFL season and have contacted the club to ensure fans are aware they’ll be made welcome.

Berwick are without influential midfielder Michael McKenna after he saw red against Elgin

Berwick Rangers Team News:

The ‘Gers are once again without winger David Verlaque, who will serve the second of a two game ban for a red card earned during a game played as a trialist for Berwick a couple of weeks back.

Despite his absence the right-flanker continued to give boss John Coughlin food for thought during the Development Team’s 7-2 victory over Cowdenbeath Under 20’s on Monday evening, where he netted and assisted.

Fellow midfielder Michael McKenna also misses out though suspension, with the engine-room operator set to serve a further 2-match ban after tomorrow. Kevin McKinlay will also join him in the stands for our upcoming game against Cowdenbeath having accumulated one too many yellow cards.

Coughlin is boosted at the back where Jonny Fairbairn is fit enough to be considered once more, but Robert Wilson and Michael Dunlop remain out with long-term injures.

Edinburgh City Team News:

City boss Gary Jardine bolstered his striking ranks ahead of their previous match against Cowdenbeath by adding Derek Riordan to his squad.

The Edinburgh side have found goals hard to come by in the SPFL, meaning they’ve not been able to capitalise on a fairly solid defensive record as much as they’d have liked.

Ryan Porteous will be available though he has a ban to serve next Saturday, however Jardine will be without Aaron Dunsmore and Ian McFarland, who must serve their suspensions tomorrow afternoon.

Match Odds:

SPFL title-sponsors Ladbrokes believe the home side will take the points here.
