Match Preview : Edinburgh City v Berwick Rangers – Ladbrokes League Two

Happy 2018 to all of our loyal supporters. The first league game of the New Year sees Robbie Horn and his team travel to Ainslie Park for a 3pm kick off on 2nd January.

The game will be the fourth clash between the Black and Whites and the Black and Golds this season with two previously close league matches coming after an early season penalty shoot-out in the Betfred Cup.

We would like to make supporters aware of two offers available for this game in order to start 2018 with a bang! Edinburgh City, like our earlier contest at Ainslie Park this season, have kindly confirmed that any Berwick season ticket holder will be admitted at the concession rate of GBP 6 when producing their season card.

The home side are also advertising the game as a special hospitality day with buffet food, drinks offers, a match ticket in the Directors’ area and an audience with Scottish football legend Jim Jeffries happening after the game. All the details of this hospitality offer are up on social media and our website. Berwick supporters are welcome to enjoy this day and you can email liam@edinburghcityfc.com if interested.

Berwick News

Robbie Horn, as with the cancelled game against Steinhousemuir on Saturday, has confirmed that everyone is fit and available.

Both teams have been on difficult runs and will be keen to start the New Year with a positive result as the sides are currently 7th and 9th respectively.

Due to the cold weather and December cancellations the ‘Gers will be experiencing this game as now part of a tough run of four away games in a row.

Edinburgh City News

James McDonaugh announced the first League Two signing of 2018 on New Year’s day as former Berwick captain Pat Scullion signed for the club. As irony would have it Scullion is expected to go straight into the squad for this match against his former side.

Scullion, who left Berwick over the festive period, has commented “It feels like a good fit and I am hoping to play my part in helping the team to pick up as many points as possible between now and the end of the season”.

McDonaugh added that Scullion was joining the club at a time when they needed to strengthen due to injuries and poor results, noting that the experienced defender will “add experience and a strong mentality”.
