Match Preview : Berwick Rangers v Stirling Albion – Ladbrokes League Two

Weather permitting, after the big freeze last weekend, the Black & Gold return to Ladbrokes League Two action tomorrow with a home fixture against in-form Stirling Albion at Shielfield Park. The game kicks off at 3pm.

Kevin Rutkiewicz and his side arrive in great form, having won 4 of their 5 last league outings. This is the third league clash between the sides this season with both the previous games going with the home side. Berwick started the 18/19 season with a 1-0 home victory over Saturday’s visitors on the opening day.

History

There have been 54 games at Berwick between the two sides in league history, with Berwick boasting the better record at Shielfield with 23 wins to Stirling’s 17. The ‘Gers will be hoping for more of the same on Saturday.

Berwick News

The postponement last weekend means that we should see some home debuts during this game. Exciting Tunisian striker, Ahmed Aloulou, is expected to be involved for the first time. Defender Dougie Brydon is also back at the ‘Gers, following a successful stint 6 years ago, and is expected to be in the squad for what could be a second Berwick debut.

Ouzy See and Declan O’Kane are both still nursing injuries and Kyle Allison is suspended for this match.

Stirling News

Manager Kevin Rutkiewicz has also been busy this week, with Mark Stewart leaving the club by mutual consent. Midfielder Scott Glover has also signed on loan from St Mirren until the end of the season and should be involved.

Stirling Albion have been on a great run recently and will be looking to force their way into the end of season play-offs. Striker Peter MacDonald was the League Two player of the month for January and will be a major threat.

Admission

Usual league prices will apply for this fixture. £12 for adults and £8 for concessions.

We look forward to welcoming you all and our visitors on Saturday. We have been extremely saddened by the passing of club legend, Ian “Pea” Oliver, this week and want to give him the acknowledgment that he so richly deserves. The club is a worse place without him and we will be honouring him before the game.

Please help us celebrate the life of a true club great. All will be welcome for drinks in the 1881 bar at the ground before and after the match. Supporters will also be welcome at the Red Lion pub, located on Castlegate in Berwick, before or after the game. The pub are sponsors of Berwick Rangers TV (highlights available after the match) and will provide complimentary food to supporters when purchasing a drink.

Let’s honour “Pea” on and off the pitch. Enjoy the game and come on the ‘Gers!
