Match Preview : Berwick Rangers v Peterhead FC – Ladbrokes League Two

After the disappointment of another postponement against Stenhousemuir in midweek, the ‘Gers don’t have to wait long for the next Shielfield fixture with table topping Peterhead FC rolling into town on Saturday. This Ladbrokes League Two fixture is a 3pm kick-off.

Berwick are looking to build on the recent consistent run of draws and move further away from Cowdenbeath before the end of the campaign.

The ‘Gers will be looking for their first victory in a while having not tasted victory in the last ten league games. However, despite the disparity in the league positions there is reason to be hopeful for the weekend as Berwick have taken four points from the league leaders in 2017/18 thus far.

A draw and a victory in the away games were sandwiched between an exciting 2-3 reverse in the other Shielfield encounter this season. Recent additions to the squad at that time, Jack Hamilton and Ouzy See, both netted in the clash at the end of January.

Berwick News

Robbie will be hoping that the extra rest from the midweek cancellation will mean that everyone has recovered well and ready to go. Gary Phillips and Ouzy See will both be pushing for recalls to the starting 11.

Horn has commented that he expects “a tough game against a team going for the league. People will write us off due to the league positions but it we compete like we have done the last 3 games we can get a result”.

Peterhead News

Manager Jim Mcinally is looking to finish the season with the title in what is proving to be an extremely tight battle with Montrose.

Peterhead are currently ahead on goal difference but have played a game more than their rivals. Mcinally will be looking for three points on Saturday to add to the last two consecutive victories.

Last weekend’s victory against Clyde saw Russell McClean net twice and even afforded the luxury of leading scorer, Rory McAllister, being introduced from the bench late on. McAllister has been struggling with a knock but Mcinally is expected to continue to use him with the end of the season being so close.

McAllister has 20 league goals and 6 assists to his name in an impressive campaign.
