Match Preview: Berwick Rangers v Forfar Athletic – SPFL Ladbrokes League Two

Something has to give as Berwick go up against Forfar Athletic tomorrow. The away side have won both of their league games so far, whilst the ‘Gers are unbeaten so far this season courtesy of a draw with Arbroath and a win last weekend against Annan Athletic.

Berwick will be without captain Jonny Fairbairn, who received an immediate two-match ban following his straight red card in last weekend’s victory against Jim Chapman’s Annan side.

Immediately following the victory, boss John Coughlin told BRFC TV that young centre-half Robert Wilson is likely to be the man to come in for him. Wilson signed a 2-year deal in the Summer, and will be looking to build on a solid first season at Shielfield Park by reclaiming a regular place in the team alongside Brian Martin.

Also missing however will be Sean Mackie, the Hibernian loanee still out with an injury picked up whilst in friendly action for parent club Hibernian. Graeme Beveridge will also face a late fitness test.

Otherwise Coughlin has a full squad to choose from as he aims to maintain an incredible home record of not having been beaten in league action at Shielfield Park in 2016.

Forfar Athletic Team News:

Athletic have a former ‘Ger on their books in the form of striker Jim Lister, but he will face a late fitness test having been kept out of recent action through injury, most recently a back injury which kept him out of IRN BRU Cup action on Tuesday evening.

Elsewhere, Andy Munro may also be sidelined having picked up a knock in The Loons’ 3-1 victory over Aberdeen U20’s on Tuesday.

However Gary Bollan will welcome back former Peterhead and Annan forward David Cox, who has now served a two-match ban of his own.

Cox will be joined by Michael Kennedy who featured from the bench in midweeks following a spell out of the side, whilst Kennedy’s Development Team central defensive partner last season Murray MacKintosh will pen a senior deal ahead of the match.
