Match Preview: Berwick Rangers v Elgin City – SPFL Ladbrokes League Two

League football returns to Tweedmouth tomorrow as Berwick play host to Jim Weir’s Elgin City. The Borough Briggs side got off to a flying start with wins over Cowdenbeath and Edinburgh City, but have since faltered with defeats to both Forfar and Arbroath.

Berwick struggled to victory last time out in Edinburgh, but were dominant in a 6-0 midweek friendly win over Haddington Athletic as John Coughlin looked to keep his side sharp.

Berwick will be bolstered by the return of their captain Jonny Fairbairn to the defensive line, whilst energetic midfielder Michael McKenna will also be available for selection. Both players had missed recent matches due to suspension.

However, Coughlin will still be without utility man and former Elgin player Graeme Beveridge, whilst Sean Mackie remains sidelined with an injury.

Elgin City Team News:

Whilst the ‘Gers enjoyed a break last weekend, taking the opportunity to host an open training session at Shielfield Park, Elgin weren’t afforded the luxury of a week off, taking on Falkirk in the IRN BRU Cup 3rd round in a match that they’d go on to lose 6-1.

Weir will however have a full side available to make the mammoth trek down the East coast, and will be hoping that it helps his side bounce back from the heavy defeat.
