Match Preview : Berwick Rangers v Cowdenbeath FC – Ladbrokes League Two
Robbie Horn and the ‘Gers welcome bottom placed Cowdenbeath to Shielfield Park this weekend. The League Two fixture will see the Black & Gold looking to bounce back from the home defeat last Saturday by Montrose. The game will kick off at 3pm.
Berwick, who were managerless at the time following John Coughlin’s departure, won 0-1 at Cowdenbeath in the reverse fixture earlier this campaign. That game was the ‘Gers third away win at Saturday’s visitors in a row.
However, Billy Brown and his men will take heart from their last visit to Shielfield Park which ended in a 1-3 victory with current squad member Robbie Buchanan netting that day.
Berwick News
Berwick will be forced into a defensive reshuffle as recent starter Kevin McKinlay is out injured. He is joined on the sidelines by Callum Donaldson and fellow Hibernian loanee Kevin Waugh is also struggling with a knock. His involvement will depend on how he came through the Hibs under 20’s Scottish Cup game in mid-week.
The defence could be depleted further as long-serving Jonny Fairbairn has been suffering with flu this week.
In more positive news Jack Cook is fit again and Paul Simpson, who has impressed in the Under 20s since formally joining following a trial, is added to the squad.
Robbie Horn will be looking for a reaction from the players after last week.
Cowdenbeath News
Billy Brown’s team sit bottom of the pile with one league win this season and having not scored in their last 3 league encounters. They will be looking to improve on a record of 3 goals in 9 games.
The squad also has various players who have represented both clubs over recent years with Ben Stirling, Charlie Denton and Josh Morris all wearing the Black & Gold previously.
The self proclaimed Blue Brazil will be hoping that recent signing Jordan Garden can kick start his Cowdenbeath career with his first goal for the club.
