Match Preview: Berwick Rangers v Airdrieonians – Betfred Cup

Robbie Horn and the boys start their home campaign tomorrow against Airdrie with the game kicking off at 3pm at Shielfield Park.

Both sides are looking to improve on their first results in Group F, which ended in defeats. Robbie will be looking for this young Berwick side to learn from the mistakes at Annan in midweek as a lot of them continue to get to grips with the physicality of senior football.

This will be another tough test against Stephen Findlay’s League One side, who like Berwick are much changed after a busy summer.

Berwick News

Robbie Horn has been working hard this week to add new faces to the squad and additions are expected either for this game or the following home game against Hamilton on Tuesday.

This game should see competitive home debuts for several of the summer additions, with Aly Adams impressing in the defeat at Annan.

Airdrie News

Stephen Findlay has been busy overhauling his squad this summer with former loan signing, Darryl Duffy, having made his move permanent. Duffy impressed with four goals in nine games during that loan spell. Findlay has added 12 new signings to his squad with plenty of league experience added to the ranks.

Some of the new signings will be familiar to the Shielfield faithful with Kyle Wilkie having had a loan spell with the ‘Gers in 2015. Jonathan Page, Sean Crighton, Chris O”Neil, David Hutton and Scott Gallacher have also joined for the 2018/19 season.

Odds

Berwick 29/10

Draw 27/10
