Liall Smith set for loan spell

The club can confirm this evening that winger Liall Smith will head out on loan to Whitehill Welfare, where the youngster will link up with former ‘Ger and current Whitehill player-manager, Neil Janczyk.

Smith, 20, debuted as a substitute for the ‘Gers during yesterday evening’s 3-1 victory over Edinburgh University AFC, but has largely found opportunities for playing time somewhat limited as a result of manager Ian Little’s chosen tactical setups so far this season.

In a move that will benefit all parties, Liall will now head out to collect match fitness and form with the 16-time East of Scotland champions, ready to return to Shielfield Park and compete for his position when his loan deal expires in a month’s time.

Club Secretary Dennis McCleary worked hard to arrange for the deal to be done, and his work has paid off with the winger set to debut this evening against in Whitehill’s clash with Tranent Juniors.

The club would like to wish Liall the best of luck in his spell with Welfare and looks forward to welcoming him back to the squad in late November.
