Kieran Somerville and Grant Nelson extend until 2023
Berwick Rangers duo Kieran Somerville and Grant Nelson have become the latest players to pen a contract extension at Shielfield Park, with both committing to playing in the Black & Gold until summer 2023.
Manager Ian Little and his coaching team have been hard at work behind the scenes in recent weeks as they look to put their playing squad in a strong position ahead of the summer and the 2021/22 campaign.
And having already secured contract extensions for Jordan Sinclair, David Ferguson, Jack Cook, Craig Reid, John Ward, Dougie Horne, Lewis Barr and Jack Wright – as well as adding Scott-Taylor Mackenzie and Ciaran Heeps on a pre-contract agreements and retaining Lewis Allan who was on a two-year deal, Kieran and Grant become the latest players to lengthen their stay.
Kieran Somerville is sponsored by Darlington-based ‘Gers fan, John Reeve, and has impressed in his debut season with the ‘Gers through a number of energetic displays as the Borderers’ sole option on the right flank. A constant threat going forward and a solid defender, Kieran has primarily featured as right wing back during the season and has impressed fans with a number of social media Man of the Match performances.
Grant Nelson is sponsored by K. Dixon Building Services and was finding form just as the season came to a halt due to Covid-19. An attack-minded midfielder, Grant will be looking to nail down a regular starting berth while continuing to add goals and assists to his game – his most memorable this season coming as he rounded off a lovely counter-attacking move away at Cumbernauld Colts.
The club will continue to update its supporters as and when it conducts any new business.
