John Brownlie appointed to new role

We are delighted to announce that John Brownlie is joining Berwick Rangers as the club’s new Head of Tactical & Opposition Scouting.

John is no stranger to MKM Shielfield Park, having played for the ‘Gers in the 1985/6 season, and managing the club briefly in 2019. In a distinguished playing career, he made over 200 appearances for Hibernian, played 124 times for Newcastle United, and earned 7 Scotland caps. His managerial credentials include Cowdenbeath, East Stirlingshire and Arbroath.

In his new role, John will support Kevin Haynes and his coaching staff with match preparation, as the squad prepares tactically for games in the Lowland League East, KDM Evolution Trophy, Scottish Cup and a host of other competitions.

Upon his appointment, John said, ‘It’s great to be back at Berwick Rangers, as I’ve felt a strong connection to the club since my playing days. I’m excited for this new role, and to start helping Kevin and the rest of the team.’
