Interview: Daryl Healy
Striker Daryl Healy has been in fine form over the last few weeks, picking up back to back social media Man of the Match awards as well as netting in consecutive games. The website caught up with the 21-year-old to see how he’s enjoying life at Shielfield Park:
On Saturday you made your 20th appearance for Berwick, how have you found your first few months in professional football?
“On a personal level I’ve found it really good to have been able to take my chance with the step up from last season. I have been able to develop as a player and get used to the physicality of the league and I’ll continue to work hard and develop going forward.”
Over the last few weeks you’ve had several Man of the Match performances and scored two in your last two. What are your hopes for the rest of the season?
“The last few weeks have been good for me and more importantly as a team with the way we have been playing at times. My hopes are that myself and the boys keep building on how the gaffer wants us to play and we can continue to climb the table.”
How have things changed for yourself and the squad since Johnny Harvey joined the club?
“Since Johnny’s came in I feel myself and the players have grown in confidence and I believe you can see that out on the park. He is wanting us to play a certain way by keeping the ball, not forcing things and trusting each other. I’ve really enjoyed working with him so far and I’m looking forward to seeing what the rest of this season and the future brings.”
You’re starting to develop in to a fans favourite with your performances on a Saturday, what do you consider to be your best attributes?
“I would say my better attributes are my pace and my heading. Also, my hold up and link up play.”
Who would you say was your role model in football growing up, and why?
My idol, not only growing up but still, is Cristiano Ronaldo. You’ve just got to love him. He has been my hero since his Man United days and I have loved him ever since.”
