The first competitive game of the season sees Ayr United visiting Shielfield on Saturday in the Group G opener of this season’s Betfred Cup.
This will be the Honest Men’s first trip over to Berwick since March 2008 when we met them in league action.
Managed by Ian McCall, Ayr finished last season in fourth position in the Championship having being promoted from League 1 as champions in the previous season but lost to Inverness Caley Thistle in the first play-off semi final.
Their recent signings for the new season include loanees Frank Ross from Aberdeen and Stephen Kelly from Rangers along with Patrick Thistle mainstay Frank Doolan and Sam Roscoe from Aberdeen joining as permanent signings.
We welcome Ayr and their travelling support to the game on Saturday.
Our new management duo of Ian Little and Kevin Haynes hope to have a relatively full squad to choose from for the game although Cieran Chalmers is rated 50-50 due to a thigh injury whilst Lewis Barr is also carrying a hip injury although it is hoped he will future in the game.
Scott Lambie will be the referee on Saturday. Jonathan Bell and Michael Addy will be running the lines.
Season tickets are not valid for this match and admission prices are £12 Adults and £6 concessions with children Under 12 free when accompanied by an Adult.
As a reminder season tickets are on sale now and will be available in the Club shop on match days as well as online.
This is the fourth season that the Betfred competition has run in a group format with the sponsors announcing the extension of their original agreement last October to include season 2019/20.
Saturday will also see the first outing of our new Hummel kit which will feature the logos of our new kit sponsors:
Front of shirt: Michael Guthrie Developments
Back of shirt: Wesellyourmotorhome.co.uk
Short Sponsors: Ideal Carpets
We thank them for their support this season.
All supporters will be welcome in the Red Lion pub before and after the game for refreshments and food.
Highlights of the game will be on the clubs YouTube channel after the game thanks to the Red Lion, sponsors of Berwick Rangers TV.
Come on Berwick!
