Hogg wins Social Media Man of the Match award
‘Gers fans may be struggling to find too many positives from a drab 2-0 defeat at home to Annan Athletic on Saturday, but it appears that youngster Barry Hogg’s home debut didn’t go unnoticed with the former Hibs youth earning the Social Media Man of the Match after spending 30 minutes on the park from the bench.
The midfielder replaced Graeme Beveridge on the hour mark, and showed some sharp touches and clever ball retention, helping shake off any sign of nerves quickly.
At just 18, Hogg cuts an imposing figure and clearly didn’t mind the physical challenge either as he attempted to win possession and control the midfield, and his efforts earned him 75% of this week’s voting.
Runner-up this week is Darren Lavery with 25%, the striker once again putting in a selfless shift up-front as he attempted to help the ‘Gers get on the scoresheet.
While the frontman was left ruing a chance he screwed wide on the stretch in the first-half, it was his team-play that appeared to catch the eye as he dropped deeper and got the ball out wide to help the Gers build numerous attacks.
Well done to both and congratulations to Barry for making his SPFL League bow. Hopefully there is more to come and in better results!
