Highlights: Berwick Rangers 2-3 Kilmarnock – Betfred Cup

Berwick surrendered a two goal lead to lose last night’s Betfred Cup tie against Kilmarnock 3-2, also losing a home record that had seen them unbeaten at Shielfield during 2016 in competitive action.

However, ‘Gers fans would come away happy having seen the ‘Gers more than match their Scottish Premiership opposition, and had it not been for the impressive Souleymane Coulibaly, the result may have been different on the night.

The ‘Gers went ahead in the first-half through Jonny Fairbairn, who nodded a near-post corner into the net and past Oliver Davies.

Berwick solidified their position with an excellent second in the new half, Jordyn Sheerin creating space from himself to drive into on the half-way line before releasing Hibernian loanee Sean Mackie, making his senior debut, who’d smash home to double the lead.

However, Coulibaly latched on to a long ball to smash home a 20-yard half-volley before hammering home a leveller five minutes later. With just minutes left, Rory McKenzie stole a winner for Lee Clark’s men, heading home the rebounded effort of Flo Bojaj.
