Happy New Year

We wish all our supporters a happy new year.

From everyone at The Club, can we wish all our supporters, sponsors and volunteers a very Happy and prosperous New Year. After our win on Saturday, Kevin was keen to say a few words before our derby match on Saturday at home against Gala Fairydean Rovers.

With this being our first piece of the New Year let me start with wishing all the supporters and sponsors connected to the club good luck for 2020.

I can personally say Happy New Year to all the staff and volunteers on Saturday when we meet up to try and get our first 3 points of 2020 , but I can’t personally wish the all the supporters a Happy New Year so I’d like to use this platform to do so.

Before Saturday, we still have a chance to meet up with the players to start our work for our derby match at the weekend against gala. We know this will be a difficult match as we drew 2-2 earlier in the season.  I felt at the time we should have won that game, We gave away sloppy goals that day but also had a perfectly good goal from Chalmers chalked off for what we felt was a wrong offside decision by the officials.

I must praise the players for their efforts over the festive period, as our normal training slot couldn’t be maintained with the centre’s operational times over this period and we’ve had to change our training days and times to allow us to keep the hard work going . The players efforts are certainly appreciated by the gaffer and the coaching staff.

The lead up to last week’s game was difficult, as we lost two good players in Daryl Healy and Ricky miller. Both players had spoken to their new club regarding a contract for next season and decided they didn’t want to be here any longer, as they had agreed to sign these deals for next season. This happens in football and I wish them both good luck for their future careers.

As it goes, I don’t think we missed them on Saturday, and we managed to get 3 points in a pretty poor game. The game itself lacked some quality and there weren’t many chances in the game for either side. What was pleasing is the fact we managed to get the 3 points. If it had been earlier in the season, I don’t think we’ve had won that game . We had some good individual performances and played and defended well as a unit. The gaffer is putting on great sessions to teach our lads different aspects of the game and its pleasing to see some of it coming out during games on a Saturday afternoon.

I hope to see you all on Saturday and hopefully the lads will bring a winning start to 2020.

All the best
