Great result at Balmoor
Peterhead 0 Berwick Rangers 2 Ladbrokes League 2
Berwick produced probably their best performance of the season defeating second top Peterhead 2-0 at Balmoor (yesterday 30 Sept) to move into fifth in Ladbrokes League 2, one point off a play off position.
Manager Robbie Horn played three at the back, skipper Pat Scullion, recalled Olly Fleming and Kevin McKinlay (replaced after a knock in the second half by Jonny Fairbairn). Marcus Godinho (back from missing Stenhousemuir) and Gary Phillips occupied the wing back roles with Aaron Murrell and Michael McKenna up front.
In a tight first half with Peterhead hitting the bar and later Berwick a post, keeper Robbie McCrorie didn’t have a great deal to do but made a terrific save in the second period, handling everything else with confidence. Berwick had chances in the opening 45 minutes but home keeper Greg Fleming made some good blocks.
The opening goal for Berwick saw Oliver Fleming (pic) net his first for the club from close range in 74 minutes and it was all over ten minutes later when after a quick break, Michael McKenna was on hand to round the keeper and slot home.
So, a great three points to take forward to the next League game (21 Oct home to Montrose) With Internationals and Irn Bru games on this weekend, the next official fixture is home to Annan Athletic in the William Hill Scottish Cup (14 Oct)
