A young ‘Gers side went down 1-0 last night.

Berwick Rangers Football Club would like to wish Whitehill Welfare goalkeeper John Gilbertson a speedy recovery after the stopper picked up an injury during Welfare’s 1-0 friendly win over the club’s development team last night.

Dale O’Hara netted the winner in added-time of the first-half, however the match was overshadowed somewhat by an injury to Whitehill player/goalkeeping coach Gilbertson.

The game had to be stopped in the 38th minute due to the injury, with Gilbertson leaving by ambulance. Whitehill have since confirmed that John has sustained a fractured ankle and torn ligaments.

Manager John Coughlin was in attendance at the game, and offered some of his thoughts ahead of tonight’s game against Gateshead.

The club would also like to thank Whitehill Welfare for their hospitality and wish them the best of luck for the season ahead.
