The club can confirm that Berwick Rangers will play host to Vanarama Conference National side Gateshead FC before visiting SPFL Ladbrokes League One Alloa Athletic in preparation for the 2016/17 campaign.

‘The Heed’ finished 9th last season under the management of Gateshead-born Neil Aspin and will visit Shielfield Park on Tuesday 12th July.

Aspin, who took charge in November 2015, has used the Summer transfer window to heavily strengthen his squad and ‘Gers boss John Coughlin expects a good test.

The ‘Gers will travel to Alloa meanwhile on Saturday 16th July, with the ‘Gers having their Betfred Cup ‘free date’ before any other Group H side.

The Wasps suffered relegation from the SPFL Championship last season but have made some impressive signings over the off-season and look well-set to challenge for the League One title.

The fixtures come on top of a North East mini-tour, with the ‘Gers set to kick off their pre-season by visiting Consett AFC and Ryton & Crawcrook Albion on Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd July respectively.
