‘Gers add goalkeeper Swinton

The club is pleased to today confirm the addition of goalkeeper Ben Swinton after the young goalkeeper put pen to paper on a one-year deal.

Swinton, 20, arrives from Dunfermline Athletic where he signed his first professional contract back in 2019, and made his debut for the club in a behind closed doors match against Stirling Albion on Thursday evening.

The ‘keeper impressed during his 45 minutes in goal as he has whilst training with the club, in a match saw the ‘Gers draw 1-1 with veteran striker Calum Smith finding the net against the Binos.

And the arrival of the stopper will go some way to addressing a gap left by the departure of Dougie Horne, who recently announced his retirement from the game.

Ben will now challenge fellow prospect Andy McNeil for the number one jersey next season, with the ‘Gers squad now looking well set ahead of the new campaign.

The goalkeeping duo will be working with Jonathan Craig in the coming season, after the goalkeeper coach returned to the club last week.

Fans might have a first opportunity to see Ben in action this Friday evening, when the ‘Gers take on Heart of Midlothian at Shielfield Park. Tickets for the game are available via our digital ticketing partner Fanbase, and instructions on how to purchase yours can be found here.

All at the club wish Ben a warm welcome to Shielfield and look forward to seeing him in action.
