Eleven 20s signed up for 2018/19

Berwick Rangers Under 20s have secured a number of players from last season’s squad for 2018/19.

Eleven Players have penned new contracts ahead of the upcoming campaign, which is set to change from Under 20s to a Reserve League. Captain Jamie Chapman is joined by Macaulay Jarrett, Stuart Allan, Calum Heath, Jack Murray, Jack Gillan, Kieran Jack, Bradley Barrett, Gary Windram, Evan Smith and Buster Briggs at Shielfield for the next 12 months.

Elsewhere, the top scorer for the Under 20s last season, Grant Rose, has already penned a deal to join Robbie Horn’s first team squad. Ross Aitchison, Scott Sutherland and Gary Dolan have all left the club by mutual consent. The club would like to thank these players for their efforts in the black and gold.

The squad is already taking shape for the new season, and a number of deals have been agreed with some promising young players. These will be announced later in the summer, after the climax of their registrations at their current clubs.

Head Youth Coach Derek McKenzie is happy to have retained his players and is looking forward to the new season: “I am delighted to sign up the majority of our squad who finished the season with us. This gives us a continuity from last season that will be complimented with our new signings who I am really excited about. As Robbie has already commented, we are getting a good reputation for developing young players and I’m hoping that will continue. It’s an exciting time for young players at the club. I’d like to thank the players who have left us for all their efforts over the past season and wish them well for the future.”

Pre-season commences for the Development squad in a few weeks, with a full programme of pre-season fixtures beginning with a trip to Hawick on Saturday 7th July. The club will also share any developments regarding the League changes when more information becomes available.
