Dowie joins Reserves
The ‘Gers Reserves are pleased to announce the signing of Shea Dowie from Whitehill Welfare.
The 17-year-old goalkeeper joins having been the Lowland League outfits second choice goalkeeper this season, making 2 appearances for them and supplementing his game time in their U20 squad.
Dowie joined Whitehill having been part of the successful Hutchison Vale setup last season, where he was first spotted by the Reserve teams coaching staff.
Reserves Head Coach Derek McKenzie was delighted to welcome Dowie to the club : “The goalkeeper position is one we have been working really hard on since pre season. I think its an important position to get competition for places in and i am confident Shea is going to be a great signing for us competing alongside Stuart Allan. He comes from Whitehill having been part of their first team squad and making a couple of appearances when Ross Jardine was suspended, so at a young age he has had good experiences already this season. We were impressed with Shea last season watching him at Hutchison Vale and have been trying to get him signed up since then. It has taken a bit longer than i had hoped but our persistence has now paid off. Shea has a good stature about him, is confident and hates to lose goals, so I’m confident he will now kick on and continue his development. Our thanks should also go to Jock Landells at Whitehill for helping to make this deal happen”.
Dowie is expected to go straight into the squad for tonight’s home SPFL Reserve League Two match against Airdrieonians at Shielfield Park.
