The club are pleased to confirm that following an appeal last week, Doug Coutts has been located in Lancashire and contact has been made with the captain of the historic 1967 ‘Gers squad.

And Berwick Rangers are delighted to announce that Doug will be in attendance at next Friday’s Dinner, which will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the club’s most famous ever result.

Berwick would like to thank all of the fans that took the time to share our appeal, and pay a particular thanks to the Aberdeen FC Former Players’ Association for their help in assisting with contacting Doug.

On Wednesday, it was confirmed that local former Scotland international and TV pundit Pat Nevin will attend as a guest speaker on the night.

Nevin and Coutts will join ’67 legends Gordon Haig, Ian Riddell, Russell Craig, Alan Ainslie (who will fly in from Australia), Andy Rodgers, John Keith and the family of the late Jim Kilgannon in attending the evening, which takes place at the Black & Gold social club.

Also in attendance will be Dave Smith and Willie Johnston, two Rangers players who featured on the day and will be able to provide a completely different perspective on the day’s events.

And the star-studded event will be boosted by the attendance of Eric Tait and many of his 1978/79 teammates after a successful appeal for a get-together from the BRFC TV host.

Tickets are still available for the event but are now highly limited, with the remainder available from our online store. Fans are encouraged to move quickly to avoid disappointment – with all remaining tickets being taken offline later tonight.

Priced at £26, the cost includes a meal, the entertainment of our guests and P&P. Fans are asked to arrive 7pm for a 7:30pm start.
