Following the conclusion of the 2016-17 season the U20 coaching staff along with the first team manager John Coughlin have been planning the way forward for our U20 squad with regards to taking players forward to the first team squad next season, retaining players eligible to play with the U20s for the forthcoming season and the decision to release a number of players.
It is with regret, but with thanks, to the players for their efforts over the past season who are to be released noted below:
Grant Goodfellow (Goalkeeper)
Ali McDonald (Right Back)
Ethan Anderson (Left Back)
Cameron Dickson (Centre Half)
Kieran Ingram (Midfield)
Jamie Henderson (Forward)
Our club believes that it is part of their responsibility to the players to help them in their efforts to find new clubs at the highest possible level that they can and U20 coaches Derek and Daniel McKenzie would invite any interested club to get in contact with themselves should any player in the above list be of interest.
Going forward the remaining players have been made individual offers for the forthcoming season with the majority of players having agreed terms for next season and others still mulling over the decision. All of our U20 players are registered with the club until the 30th of June in any case so there will be no lapse in registration for any player.
Furthermore the club are currently in talks with a number of prospective players for the new intake of U20s and the coaching staff are certainly excited with the talks so far. It is inevitable at this time of the season that our club officials are inundated with requests for a list of U20 players who may be available for loan. We do ask however that we are allowed to concentrate on our own signing efforts and we may be in a position to look at such deals come the end of pre-season.
