Derek Neilson

It is with great sadness that the club that the club learned about the passing of former goalkeeper Derek Neilson (58) earlier this week.

The stopper spent five years at Shielfield Park, amassing a total of 143 appearances for the club and making him one of our top 50 all-time appearance makers.

The ‘keeper graduated from the youth system of Dundee United, enjoying short loan stays with East Stirlingshire and Meadowbank Thistle before he’d feature on no less than 247 occasions for Brechin City, where he was number one for the 8 seasons prior to his move to Berwick.

A keen Hibernian fan, Derek held a season ticket with the Hibees and could still be seen regularly in the stands at Easter Road.

The thoughts of the club are with Derek’s family and friends at this time.
