Cowdenbeath vs BRFC 25-26

A patchwork 10 man Berwick side battled to an impressive 2-0 win at Cowdenbeath.
Ravaged by injuries and illness meaning 8 first team players were out already, Berwick boss Kevin Haynes had to reshuffle before kick off when Ben McCrystal pulled out.
That didn’t matter though when, 30 seconds in, Michael Mbewe floated a cross to the back post for Greg Binnie to loop a header in.
Cowdenbeath barely had time to recover from that rapid opener when Binnie was set through on goal 15 minutes later and he slotted past Dion Gear.
Another enforced half time reshuffle moved Harry Wright into a wing back role but it would only last 10 minutes when the Stirling Albion loanee picked up his second yellow card.
Paul McLean’s team pushed hard looking for a breakthrough but a combination of dogged defending and an inspired Callum Antell ensure it was three points and a clean sheet for Berwick.
Antell In The Middle Of Our Goal
Anyone at Central Park undoubtedly heard the travelling Berwick fans belt out their adapted version of Madness’ hit single for Berwick’s number one.
Antell has missed a large chunk of the season through injury but his return to the side has seen just a single goal conceded in the last two games.
His performance at Central Park was a reminder of just why so many would consider him one of the best keepers in the Lowland League.
