Carol Spence

The club has been deeply saddened to hear of the death of long serving turnstile staff member, Carol Spence and passes on sincere condolences of everyone at Shielfield to her family at this sad time for them.

Club Secretary Dennis McCleary said tonight (Tuesday 15th March): “This has come as a real shock to us. Carol was on duty at her normal Season Ticket gate on Saturday for the game against Stirling and it is safe to say she epitomised everything your hear about volunteers at the so called lesser clubs.

“Like her late husband, Jimmy had done, she turned up at every game normally walking from her Berwick home to the Stadium, well over a mile, come rain, hail or shine and had filled the position she held for countless years and was a popular figure around the club”

Carol was a past winner of the ‘Josser Johnson Shield’ for Club Volunteer of the year, a prize awarded annually.
