BRFC Fan Match A Success!

Berwick Rangers hosted their first ever official Fan Match on Shielfield Park this afternoon, and the club are pleased to report that the event was a great success, with plenty of entertainment on show in front of a healthy support of around 100 ‘Gers fans.

Eric’s Elite would run out comfortable winners, the experienced side teaching a youthful Fairbairn’s Favourites a thing or two in an 8-2 victory.

The event raised a total profit of £785 on the day, around £100 of which were donations from a generous and vocal support. The club are delighted to announce that plans are already in place to make the fixture an annual event.

Players in today’s game will now be asked to provide feedback on their matchday experience to improve next year’s event, whilst the club’s media team get to work on editing highlight packages, a full-match DVD and match photography.

Moments to look out for in the highlights game include a hat-trick from striker tenacious forward Ian Watson, a 30 yarder from Ronan Atkinson, and Eric Tait featuring alongside his two sons Cameron and Ben – the latter of which came off the bench to net two goals and dazzle Fairbairn’s Favourite defenders with some mesmorising twists and turns. Eric also got on the scoresheet himself, netting a penalty which was awarded in dubious circumstances!

The club would like to thank the players for their involvement, groundsman Ross Aitchison for his help in preparing for the match, managers Jonny Fairbairn and Eric Tait, as well as all players – we hope all enjoyed their day and we hope to see you again next season!
