Blues moves to Shielfield

Manager Johnny Harvey has today strengthened his squad with the signing of Cameron Blues on loan from Premiership side Livingston.

The 20-year-old rose through the ranks at Falkirk before joining Livingston in the summer of 2018. Blues spent six months on loan at Edinburgh City in early 2018, making 16 appearances and netting a single goal.

The midfielder started 2018/19 on loan with League One side Brechin, where he again netted during a handful of appearances, before returning to his parent club in January.

Harvey is thrilled to finally get his man, admitting he’d worked on the deal for some time: “I’m delighted to eventually get Cammy in. I’ve been discussing with Livingston for nearly two months on this deal. Cammy has experience in League One with Brechin and will be a tremendous asset to us from now until the end of the season.”

The manager has identified several of the player’s attributes which he believes will strengthen the ‘Gers over the closing months of the season: “He is the complete midfielder who can sit and dictate the tempo of a game, as well as going and being a forward-thinking midfielder. I’m looking forward to working with him for the remainder of the season.”

As one player arrives, another departs as Euan Valentine returns to Raith Rovers. The club would like to thank John McGlynn and Paul Smith for their assistance and wish Valentine the best with his career. This means Johnny Harvey still has the option for one more loan signing before the end of the month.

Blues will join up with the rest of the squad this evening and is expected to feature in the matchday squad as we welcome Elgin City to Shielfield Park on Saturday.
