Berwick v Gretna 2008 – Match Info

Tomorrow afternoon the ‘Gers welcome Gretna 2008 to Shielfield Park, with Stuart Malcolm’s men looking to build upon their midweek 1-0 victory over Celtic B.

Celebrating Minden Day:

The club are delighted to confirm that, with the Minden Parade taking place in Berwick tomorrow, Berwick Rangers will offer all KOSB and Armed Forces ID Card holders entry to the fixture as concessions.

This will mean that KOSB and Armed Forces card holders will be able to take in our first fixture against non-B team opposition at a rate of just £5. Simply head to the concessions gate on entry if you’re a card holder.

Celebrating the life of John Newton:

Long-serving Club Steward and devoted Berwick Rangers supporter John Newton, affectionately known as the ‘Prof’ to many of his friends, sadly passed away on 24th January 2022, aged 78. A graduate of Sussex University, John lived in St Andrews, Fife, with his wife Marion and was a retired member of the Mathematical Institute of St. Andrews University.

Following John’s passing, it was the wish of his family for a donation to be made to Berwick Rangers in his memory. The club have used the kind donation upgrade, equip and stock its first aid room, located near the turnstiles at the top end of Shielfield Park.

The John Newton First Aid Room is now nearing completion, and will add to the John Newton exit gate that he could regularly be seen standing by as full-time neared at home fixtures.

Some of John’s family will be in attendance tomorrow, and will sprinkle some of his ashes at Shielfield Park following the game. Sadly, wife Marion and son Douglas cannot be with us for the game, but the club is looking forward to welcoming daughter Jennifer and family, along with John Swanson and one of his friends. Safety Officer Phil Rowett and club stewards will also be present at the sprinkling of the ashes.

John’s grandchildren, Annie and Adam Kinpe, and James Newton, will sponsor the match ball for tomorrow’s fixture.

Match Sponsor:

The club would to thank once again Director Dougie Younger, of Fork Truck Borders Instruction Ltd, who has once again demonstrated fantastic support of the ‘Gers with match sponsorship of tomorrow afternoon’s game.
