Berwick Rangers Community Academy to launch junior teams
Berwick Rangers are delighted to give further details about the launch of the first Berwick Rangers Community Academy junior teams, as the next steps are laid in the pathway from grassroots to senior football for youngsters in the town.
Whilst Berwick Rangers have enjoyed positive relationships with a range of youth football organisations in the local area in recent years, the club has never taken the step of officially bringing junior teams into the organisation – until now! Combined with the creation of Berwick Rangers Women’s FC and the successful running of our free Easter football days, the club is committed to its vision of being a force for good in the community. Berwick Rangers Community Academy’s junior set-up allows us to continue that work.
Next season, there will be four Berwick Rangers Community Academy junior teams – the under 9s (Year 4s), under 10s (Year 5s), under 12s (Year 7s) and under 14s (Year 9s), and we already have a brilliant team of coaches on board to help us. Meanwhile, the club continues to work with other organisations in the town with a view to bringing more junior teams into the Berwick Rangers Community Academy fold for season 2024/25, as we believe that by uniting the footballing talent within the town, leveraging our shared skill set, and combining our resources for the good of the community, we can create the best possible experience for the young people of Berwick Rangers.
The four Berwick Rangers Community Academy teams who will compete next season will be the only junior teams to be wearing the Berwick Rangers badge and will represent our club across Northumberland youth football. We are also proud to reveal that the Community Academy junior teams will wear next season’s away kit, which features a number of the town’s most famous landmarks in its design, as a further way to tie the club and the Berwick Rangers junior teams to the local community. We have exciting plans to build close links between all the different branches of Berwick Rangers, from the men’s first team down to the youngest junior teams, making use of the Shielfield Park facility and giving our junior players and their parents the opportunity to experience being part of the Berwick Rangers family in lots of ways.
Berwick Rangers Community Academy is partnering with Simpson’s Malt to deliver a great experience for young people through football. Last month, the club announced its affiliation with Simpson’s for the 2023/24 season, and we are proud to confirm that the McCreath, Simpson & Prentice name and logo will appear on the front of the shirts of all Berwick Rangers Community Academy junior teams. The club would like to thank all at Simpson’s Malt for their support.
In the coming weeks, we will be announcing the dates of open trials for the four age groups that will play for Berwick Rangers Community Academy next season. These trials will take place on the main Shielfield Park pitch, and will also give parents the opportunity to tour the facility as we open the doors of the stadium to families.
