Bayley Klimionek joins on loan

Stuart Malcolm has made moves to strengthen his Berwick Rangers squad four games into the season, with the capture of promising St Johnstone youngster Bayley Klimionek on loan until the end of the season.

Seventeen year-old Klimionek can play at centre back, left-back or in centre midfield, and featured for Scotland under-18 schoolboys throughout their 2022 Centenary Shield Campaign. At St Johnstone, he was promoted to train with the first team as a sixteen year-old, and was a mainstay in the Perth side’s under-18 team that reached the semi-finals of the Scottish Youth Cup last season.

His signing bolsters a position which has been affected by a long-term injury to Kane O’Connor and the persistence of the shoulder injury which saw Jordan Sinclair ruled out at the very end of last season.

Klimionek will be available tomorrow as the Wee ‘Gers travel to Falkirk to take on East Stirlingshire, and is set to make his home debut against Celtic B on Saturday 19 August. In more good news for the Dream Team, the Celtic B game should also see the debut of Jamie McCormack as his suspension period comes to an end.
