Adams to join ‘Gers

Berwick Rangers are delighted to confirm the pre-contract signing of Alasdair Adams from Musselburgh Athletic. The 6ft 2in goalkeeper will join the club in the summer.

26-year-old Adams has spent the last five years at Musselburgh, who currently sit top of the McBookie.com East Region Premier League. It’s during this time that he caught the eye of manager Robbie Horn, who shared his delight at signing the ‘keeper: “I’m delighted to get Ally on board. He has been one of the best goalkeepers in the Juniors for some time now. He’s a great shot stopper, commands his box well and very good with the ball at his feet. He’s a real character but has really matured over the last year or so and has become a fitness fanatic. He’s another player who is hungry for it and desperate for a crack at senior football and I’m pleased I’ve got two real quality keepers competing for the number one jersey.”

Like Robbie Horn, Adams was also pleased to be joining the ‘Gers in the summer: “I’m absolutely delighted to sign for Berwick Rangers, it’s my first taste of senior football and I’m excited to begin my career with such an established senior club. There was a couple of offers on the table, but having spoken with the gaffer Berwick just felt like the right fit for me at this time in my life, training is local to me and it’s not too far a commute for home games which is ideal for me.”

Although he’s stepping up to senior football for the first time, Adams is confident his experience at Junior level has him prepared for life in League Two: “I’ve played junior football for 7 seasons, during this time I’ve been involved in some big games. I just feel like now is the right time to take on a new challenge. Having played in these games at the top end of junior football, I feel I’ve gained a lot of experience and I can’t wait to get started with Berwick. I want to show everyone what I can do on the senior platform and help to get us up the table.”
