Adams returns to Shielfield Park

‘Gers boss Stuart Malcolm has this evening moved to add experienced goalkeeper Ali Adams to his playing squad on a six-month deal. The arrival of the 30 year-old will help to strength competition for the #1 jersey at Shielfield Park.

Alasdair was previously with the ‘Gers for a short spell back in 2018. His time at the club would come to a premature end due to a lack of game-time, with the stopper keen to play as he entered the prime years of his career.

Following his time with the club, Ali rejoined Musselburgh Athletic, and he has also since spent time with Tranent Juniors and East Fife since. This summer, he reunited with Robbie Horn at Bonnyrigg Rose but has since left in search of regular football.

Manager Stuart Malcolm shared: “I’m really happy to get this deal done. Ali is somebody we’ve chased for a little while, and if for one or two personal things that he needed to tend to first, it’s one that might have been done sooner.

“To get him over the line and have him around to help us to the end of the season is a massive coup for us. He’s got a real quality with the ball at his feet, he’s a good shot stopper which is something he’s proven over the years and he has plenty of experience to accompany that as well.”

The ‘keeper will be available for this weekend’s trip to Dalbeattie Star, where the ‘Gers will look to make it 3 wins on the bounce having dispatched of both Gretna 2008 and Broomhill in 3-0 victories.

All at the club would like to wish Ali a warm welcome and return to Shielfield, where he could make a home debut in our Boxing Day fixture against Gala Fairydean Rovers.
