A message from the Board
First of all, we want to thank everyone who has shown their support to the club in recent weeks. You have cheered on the team in your hundreds at MKM Shielfield Park, and many of you followed us all the way to Dumbarton last Saturday. Our public and hospitality lounges continue to be full every single week, and we have seen an unprecedented rise in the number of young supporters coming to cheer on the team – hopefully signs that the next generation of BRFC support is emerging. Even fans from far away have given us your backing, and our live streaming service has been so successful that we have made enough revenue from 2 streamed matches to power 5 more months of our video subscription. All of this has been made possible by the continued dedication of our staff and volunteer teams, and we remain indebted to them for their contributions.
Yesterday’s result was not the one that any of us wanted, nor what we, our coaching staff and players worked hard for all week. We share your passion for the club, but we were bitterly disappointed that a very small minority of fans took yesterday’s match as an opportunity to target members of the board and our staff with abuse. These behaviours are not tolerated by the club, and anyone who conducts themselves in such a way does not represent the values of the vast majority of our supporters, and will not be welcomed back at Shielfield Park.
We are incredibly proud of the strong and diverse Berwick Rangers community, which you – our genuine supporters – have helped to create. We look forward to celebrating the continued success of Berwick Rangers Women, who remain on course for a league and cup double, and also recognise the hard work that has gone into our three successful youth teams, who continue to produce young players and people who represent the best of our club and town. We have had an excellent response to the call for an Under 18s or Under 20s side, and running an Under 20s squad for 2025/26 remains a realistic ambition.
Looking at the more immediate future, now more than ever, the club needs your support. Kev Haynes, his coaches and players are gearing up for 4 massive league matches and a cup semi final, and attention already turns to Saturday’s home match against Cumbernauld Colts. Kevin spoke yesterday about how much your backing has meant to the team, and that your belief in the players can make all the difference as we look to work the fine margins in our favour across the next critical month. We are all aware of the task at hand, and ask you all to stay united and positive alongside us and the team as we work towards the goal we all share – a successful Berwick Rangers Football Club.
