Match Preview : Clyde v Berwick Rangers – Ladbrokes League Two

The Ladbrokes League Two campaign concludes tomorrow as the ‘Gers travel to Broadwood Stadium for the final round against Clyde. The game kicks off at 3pm with the home side looking to move into the play-offs with a victory.

This game provides a nice symmetry to the league season as it opened with a Berwick 3-1 victory over Clyde back at the start of August.

The previous encounter at Broadwood ended in a 0-0 stalemate just before Christmas and the Bully Wee also recorded a 0-1 victory at Shielfield this season.

Clyde know that only a victory will potentially be good enough to leapfrog Stirling or Stenhousemuir, who ironically play each other at the same time in what promises to be a tense end to the season for those sides involved.

The permutations show that if the Stirling game ends in a draw only an incredible victory for Clyde can swing the goal difference in their favour, which would become a factor. Therefore, Robbie and the boys will be facing a side who are looking for goals.

Berwick News

Berwick will be looking for a positive result to end the season and take into the summer plans. Robbie Horn has commented that “he expects a tough game with Clyde having something to play for and a need to score goals”. Robbie will also be shuffling his pack as Declan O’Kane, Keiran Stewart and Robby McCrorie are all out.

Steven Notman and Jack Hamilton are fit though and will be involved.

Berwick will finish the season in 8th place in the league regardless of the result on Saturday.

Clyde News

For Clyde, Kevin Nicoll is suspended but Jack Breslin is back in contention after injury. Clyde will be looking to league leading scorer, David Goodwillie, to produce the goods again. The former Scottish international has 25 league goals to his name and will win the League Two golden boot race.

Danny Lennon has commented that “we have no control over what happens in the game at Stirling. Our job is to ensure that we do all we can to earn a positive result against Berwick Rangers. We need to win and, if we do, we’ll see where that takes us. We need to give everything we have”.

Clyde have had a very good second half to the season to give themselves a chance at promotion.
