Match Preview: Elgin City v Berwick Rangers – SPFL Ladbrokes League Two
The ‘Gers will make the long trip to Borough Briggs tomorrow, seeking a second win on the bounce after a steely midweek win against Stirling Albion.
Berwick Rangers Team News:
Brian Martin will return after completing a one-match ban after accumulating one too many yellow cards. Whether he will find a place in the ‘Gers backline however is uncertain, with a returning Kevin McKinlay looking very assued during his 90 minutes at centre-half, and former City man Graeme Beveridge filling in well on the left.
Darren Lavery will miss out again as he completes a suspension earned at our last away game to Clyde, though new addition Samuel Perez will again be on-hand to ensure the ‘Gers have an attacking option to change the game should it be needed.
The curse of the Hibernian loanee has struck again, with Ben Stirling picking up an injury whilst training with his parent club during training today. However, there is some respite after Sean Mackie returned to train with the ‘Gers on Thursday evening, the left-wing back available and fit to play for the first time this season.
Elgin City Team News:
Elgin come into the game in fine form after demolishing Hawick Royal Albert 8-1 in the Scottish Cup – an opposition the ‘Gers are of course familiar with. City backed this result up with a 4-1 win over Montrose, a result which lifted them to 2nd place.
Marc Waters has completed his loan spell and returns to Queen’s Park, leaving Cammy McKay as the likely replacement to fill his position in the Elgin goal, the ‘keeper joining from Inverness for a second loan spell.
Berwick will have to be wary of the usual suspects, experienced League Two players such as midfielder Brian Cameron and striker Craig Gunn have often enjoyed matches against the Black & Gold Army, whilst the in-form Shane Sutherland has 8 goals to his name this season.
Match Odds:
SPFL title-sponsors Ladbrokes fancy Elgin to make it three wins in a row and have priced the home side as heavy favourites to take 3 points.
Elgin City – 7/10
Draw – 14/5
Berwick Rangers – 7/2
Match Officials:
Graham Beaton will take charge of this one, and will be assisted by Anthony Cooper & David Ingram.
