Local MP Anne-Marie Trevelyan, who has vocally supported causes of the club in the House of Commons previously and also demonstrated her backing for the club’s new Academy was in attendance, whilst Berwick Rangers’ first-team manager John Coughlin was also at Shielfield Park for the launch.

The relationship will see Newcastle Airport enjoy a significant presence across the ‘Gers digital platforms and at Shielfield Park over the coming years, including the promotion of its new brand campaign, ‘Discover the World from Your Airport’, a new section on the website showcasing the full range of destinations available from the airport.

Fans will have already noticed advertising boards behind both goals at Shielfield Park, and the Airport’s Shielfield presence will also be seen during campaigns at the home of the ‘Gers at different stages throughout the season.

Elsewhere, the Airport have also agreed to become the official sponsor of the club’s weekly newsletter, which will now also feature an item from the Airport once per month.

Berwick will also benefit from an agreement to make the Airport the club’s official social media account sponsors, making everything from match day updates to the latest transfer news come provided in association with Newcastle Airport.

On the partnership, Berwick Rangers’ Commercial Director Graham Bell stated: “We’re both ecstatic and hugely grateful to have obtained the backing of Newcastle Airport.

“They’re a hugely active supporter of professional sport in the North East, and they’ve agreed to commit to the club for a number of years.

“In that sense, it feels as though it’s vindication of the work the club have been putting in off the park to both improve both our reach to, and communication with fans.

“The club will benefit hugely from the support of Newcastle Airport, and there’s every chance our fans can too through the likes of their flyering campaigns.”

Graeme Mason, Planning & Corporate Affairs Director at Newcastle International Airport, said: “We are delighted to work with Berwick Rangers and look forward to developing our partnership with the club and its supporters.

“The people of Berwick and the surrounding area are important customers of Newcastle Airport and we believe this partnership will allow us to communicate more effectively with them and highlight key messages such as our ‘Discover the World from Your Airport campaign’.
