Berwick Rangers v East Fife – Preview

While the ‘Gers have only a faint hope of making the play-offs, their chances would be much improved with a win against 4th placed East Fife tomorrow afternoon.

Berwick team news:

Last weekend’s victory at Ochilview may have been impressive but Colin Cameron will be forced into at least one change with the news that Euan Bauld remains out with a muscle injury in his back.

However, Cameron is boosted by the return to fitness of Paul Willis, the former East Fife man available once more following a two game lay-off.

There is further good news for the boss as Ross Gray’s injury was less worse than first feared. The tricky winger looked to be in serious pain but thankfully the challenge saw Ross left with only an impact injury, and he may  yet return to the squad for tomorrow’s clash.

In fact, the only player to definitely join Bauld on the sidelines is Ross Drummond, who is showing signs of recovery after returning to light training.

There is one fitness test planned before tomorrow’s game for left-footer Scott Maxwell, who picked up a groin injury in the dominant victory.

East Fife team news:

East Fife boss Gary Naysmith has admitted his only focus is on returning to New Bayview with all three points as he attempts to ensure the Methil side remain in pole position to secure the final play-off spot. If Elgin and Annan are to draw and East Fife defeat Berwick, Naysmith’s side will definitively book their place in the play-offs.

Naysmith told East Fife Mail: “We’ve found it difficult against Berwick this season, so I’ve been thinking all week about how we approach the game tactically.

“We’re carrying a lot of injuries so the lads we’ve brought in on loan are likely to get more game time.

“If we get things right then hopefully we can turn on the radio and have it all wrapped up by 5pm.”

Stevie Campbell, Liam Smith and Alan Walker are among the regulars who are likely to miss out for the away side.
